RECALL ALERT! Yamaha FJR 1300

Yamaha has recalled certain model year 2006-09 FJR 1300 motorcycles. The potential number of units affected is 9,850.

The ground joint connector of the wire harness could overheat and become deformed, possibly causing an intermittent ground wire connection. If anelectrical system is not properly grounded, the ignition system and/or other electrical components could malfunction,  causing the engine to stall.

Yamaha dealers will install an additional sub-lead or, if the ground joint connector has already been damaged from overheating, a new main wire harness. The service will be performed free of charge.

Comments

  1. I was told I will need to leave my FJR with the dealer for up to a week because they have to inspect the harness first then order parts to repair or replace the the defective parts. I’m not too happy about leaving my everyday transportation with the dealer for a week.
