Saturday In Maine

While Rolling Thru Maine on Saturday, day two of our tour, we started out again with breakfast at the hotel, and nice weather, finally. A few pockets of rain early on, but sunshine and blue sky’s for the most part.

Boothbay Harbor was our first stop. Teeming with Fishing boats, sailboats and lobster pots, Boothbay was exactly what I pictured a Maine town to be. After lunch at Boothbay Inn, we headed south to Portland and a cruise to Peaks Island.

A boat taking some 75 hungry bikers to a lobster bake with the name “Island Romance” seemed a bit much. Although I was on my own, and our group was made up mostly of couples, perhaps the late day cruise was a nice departure from riding two up.

After our lobster bake we had some time to enjoy the island, another picturesque main town. After strolling around a bit we boarded the boat and steamed back to Portland, hopped on our bikes and rode back to Bath.

Saturday was a full day, and when I have the chance I would like to visit Portland again. Was a larger town and looked like a nice place to spend a weekend.

Overall Rolling Thru Main was a fun tour, and I made a bunch of friends along the way. Thanks to Christan and crew for the well organized and beautiful tour, I look forward to the next.
